November 27 You're Already Dead - Crass (leaflet)PUNK, doo wah, or do what? Either way it's become a part of the grand social circus. Dancemusic for dickheads, or a genuine expression of our anger and our despair? There's such a fine line between that which simply adds to the plastic crap that engulf's our lives and that which offers vision, hope, dignity and a FUTURE. Can you tell the difference? We're sold down the line by the music-press, the music business and, worst of all, the bands themselves. We've heard it all before, revolution at our back door and YES it has happened all over again. So many people mouthing the words, but how many of them really care? It's easy to appear radical in the pages of Sounds, but in the book that is our life it's not so easy. Punk as become derivatve, escapist and generally BORING. We don't want rock stars. We don't want glossy photos of our favourite hero. WE WANT LIFE AND WON'T SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS. The future is ours if we ar prepared to FIGHT FOR IT. Was punk ever a protest? WAs it ever much more than another escape route? Six years ago we were offered a deal with a large company; deep-pile carpets, deep-pile shit. The arsehole who ran the company actually had the nerve to tell us that he could "market revoluion". Just another ceap productfor the consumer's head. He'd "make our anger into a commodity", the "protest package". We told him to grow up and he told us that we'd never make it" without him. MAKE WHAT? A sleezy office in Mayfair? Full page interviews in NME? Since that time he has gone on to manage Culture Club. Is THAT making it? It's certainly plastic enough, empty, shallow, odious AND PROFITABLE enough. So, he and they have MADE it, like all the other scum who think that money and fame are a measure of life'ccess. For fucks sake, THERE IS LIFE BEYOND CONSUMERISM, BEYOND PRODUCT AND BEYOND THE PLASTIC. To find that life, we have to search hard within ourselves and whn we find that light, be prepared to fight for the right to keep it alight. written by Crass. (sorry if there are any typos; MSN Live is a piece of junk) November 25 Fall Back Down - RancidThis song means a lot right now- it's gettin me by. Is good. Check the original post to see the video. Fall Back Down - Rancid Don't worry about me, I'm gonna make it alright Got my enemies crossed out in my sight I take a bad situation gonna make it right In the shadows of darkness I stand in the light You see it's our style to keep it true I've had a bad year, a lot to go through I've been knocked out, beat down, black and blue She's not the one coming back for you She's not the one coming back for you If I fall back down, you're gonna help me back up again If I fall back down, you're gonna be my friend [x2] It takes disaster to learn a lesson You're gonna make it through the darkest night Some people betray one and cause treason We're gonna make everything alright Well the worst of times, now, they don't phase me Even if I look and act really crazy I went way down, she betrayed me Now my vision is no longer hazy I'm very lucky to have my crew They stood by me when she flew I've been knocked out, beat down, black and blue She's not the one coming back for you She's not the one coming back for you If I fall back down, you're gonna help me back up again If I fall back down, you're gonna be my friend [x4] Big A Little a - CrassBig A Little a Big A, little A, bouncing B The system might have got you but it won't get me 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 External control are you gonna let them get you? They're out to get you get you get you get you get you get you get you Hello, hello, hello, this is the Lord God, can you hear? Hellfire and damnation's what I've got for you down there On earth I have ambassadors, archbishop, vicar, pope We'll blind you with morality, you'd best abandon any hope, We're telling you you'd better pray cos you were born in sin Right from the start we'll build a cell and then we'll lock you in We sit in holy judgement condemning those that stray We offer our forgiveness, but first we'll make you pay External control are you gonna let them get you? Do you wanna be a prisoner in the boundaries they set you? You say you want to be yourself, by christ do you think they'll let you? They're out to get you get you get you get you get you get you get you Hello, hello, hello, now here's a massage from your queen As figurehead of the status quo I set the social scene I'm most concerned about my people, I want to give them peace So I'm making sure they stay in line with my army and police My prisons and my mental homes have ever open doors For those amongst my subjects who dare to ask for more Unruliness and disrespect are things I can't allow So I'll see the peasants grovel if they refuse to bow External control are you gonna let them get you? Do you wanna be a prisoner in the boundaries they set you? You say you want to be yourself, by christ do you think they'll let you? They're out to get you get you get you get you get you get you get you Introducing the Prime Sinister, she's a mother to us all Like the dutch boy's finger in the dyke her arse is in the wall Holding back the future waiting for the seas to part If Moses did it with is faith, she'll do it with an army Who at times of threatened crisis are certain to be there Guarding national heritage no matter what or where Palaces for kings and queens, mansions for the rich Protection for the wealthy, defence of privilege They've learnt the ropes In Ireland, engaged in civil war Fighting for the ruling classes in their battle against the poor So Ireland's just an island? It's an island of the mind Great Britain? Future? Bollocks, you'd better look behind Round every other corner stands P.C. 1984 Guardian of the future, he'll implement the law He's there as a grim reminder that no matter what you do Big brothers system's always there with his beady eyes on you From God to local bobby, in home and street and school They've got your name and number while you've just got their rule We've got to look for methods to undermine those powers It's time to change the tables. The future must be ours Big A, little A, bouncing B The system might have got you but it won't get me Be exactly who you want to be, do what you want to do I am he and she is she but you're the only you No one else has got your eyes, can see the things you see It's up to you to change your life and my life's up to me The problems that you suffer from are problems that you make The shit we have to climb through is the shit we choose to take If you don't like the life you live, change it now it's yours Nothing has effects if you don't recognise the cause If the programme's not the one you want, get up, turn off the set It's only you that can decide what life you're gonna get If you don't like religion you can be the antichrist If your tired of politics you can be an anarchist But no one ever changed the church by pulling down a steeple And you'll never change the system by bombing number ten Systems just aren't made of bricks they're mostly made of people You may send them into hiding, but they'll be back again If you don't like the rules they make, refuse to play their game If you don't want to be a number, don't give them your name If you don't want to be caught out, refuse to hear their question Silence is a virtue, use it for your own protection They'll try to make you play their game, refuse to show your face If you don't want to be beaten down, refuse to join their race Be exactly who you want to be, do what you want to do I am he and she is she but you're they only you November 13 The WorkplaceAhoy. Lately I've been thinking of something. Something so drastic, it could possibly lead to me getting a shitload of hate-mail if taken the wrong way. My thoughts?: It's my choice to shave my head into a mohawk. It's my choice to want to have tattooes, etc. Unfortunately, the Workplace doesn't want their employees to be "free-radicals" because it's supposed to be a professional atmosphere. My choice is completely trumped by their rules... yet people who support, and give into, abortion can still get a job. Yeah. That's right. I said it. I think that everyone who has ever been turned down for a position because they decided to do something creative with their hair or bodies should band together to change the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, to add Discrimination Against Body Style or Choice to the list of Discriminations. It sounds futile, but think about it: why should my hair or body determine the effort I put into my work? It IS discrimination, and if you deny that, pull the fackin' wool off your eyes. Because apparently you can still hire murderers. FIN. November 12 You are, and that's all you'll ever be.Why do we let these people run our lives? Dress like them, act like them, be them. Where's the individuality, the creativity? Non-existant; stashed away so that the masses can feel like they belong to something larger- to be accepted. It's these trends that destroy people and their will to delve into creating their own person. "Is my hair okay? What about my clothes? My shoes?" I know first-hand what it's like to see someone, already so beautiful, be destroyed with this new culture. Have you people no shame? No- why? Because the Idols on the TV, in the media, and in music have no shame; "Let's be just like them, and then we can be popular too!" When will this rat race end? Unfortunately, never. It'll just keep on rolling, crushing those who do not conform to its standards beneath it. Where is the youth today? The Youth who will inherit this world? 30 years ago, the youth were a large influence- look at the Punk movement. The youth at the time had the Wigs upstairs listening, because they were afraid of us. Now they have found the Youth's weakness: Slap a pretty, teenage model in a TV show, or in some other form of media, giving into the trends and the garb; it's too bad the lot of you can't see the leash (the NOOSE is more like it..) around your necks; leading you along, commanding what you do. Come on! We have the teeth, but where's the bite? Where are the youth, that when the government would blunder, would rise up and want to fight? They're extinct, that's where they went. Where's the promise that we can fight for a better world? It's gone, and it's been replaced with music urging the people to give into debauchery. Over the past century, revolutionaries who would later become regarded as heroes gave their lives to improve the world- and now we fail to continue their works. Sex, drugs, etc.. all by 12. The morality is gone. The world is slowly going into decline. The Youth of Today is screwed. KILL YOUR IDOLS. Anarchy is Freedom. November 08 Tired.Hey hey! Not much to write about- just wishing my Skye would be ungrounded soon. I'd kill to see her again, and more than a once-a-week-basis. I miss you ( Anyways, check this vid. "This is for the misfits, the freaks, and the runts. F*ck the motherf*cking backstabbing c*nts!" I love you, Skye. -Mike. November 07 My Thoughts on the ChurchHey hey. Now, this is not meant to be an all-out attack on any religion or any belief system that you, the reader, may have. It's just a point to ponder that I thought of a couple days ago, and wished to elaborate on. These are my thoughts, and have not been influenced in any way to reflect anyone else's. It's a short thought, and to the point: All around the world we have water. It's a naturally-occuring substance within our world. For thousands of years, entire civilizations were built upon the location of water, relative to their location; and what more, it was absolutely Free. You could go to the river, lake, stream, watering-hole, what-have-you and indulge in this natural life-supporting liquid. And what are we doing today? We bottle it. We bottle the water, and we slap a price on it. What once was available, for free, to every living being on this planet is now being marketed as a product. Now, what about the Church? There's something to think about. If you think you know what I'm asking, feel free to comment. If you'd like me to elaborate, say the word. - Mike November 06 Ode to Anarchy, Sweet LibertyMy Thoughts on the Title: Nah man, you think you're free? The sweetest Liberation is through Anarchy.. We kill ourselves, protecting the invisible borders We restrain ourselves upholding that Law and Order And what are we to those running this show? Absolutely Nothing. So, good luck believing in your freedom because I've found the ultimate liberation.. Anarchy. November 04 Punk!EH! So, after my stint into reggae music and the what-not, I've finally returned to where I feel comfortable: PUNK. I can't believe I ever left you, my lovely music-stuff. Never again shall we be apart!
